Weimaraner concerns the oldest. Its origin is not known. Assume that it was generated from initial type of German pointers brown colour which had a mutational change in colourе, fixed by the further selection work.

For the first time Weimaraner it is described in the beginning of 19 centuries at court of Charles Avgusta. Later, but for the present not absolutely studied sources, judge that Czechia was its native land and that Charles Avgust has imported them into Weimar.

Weimaraner possesses good hunting qualities from which are especially allocated a scent, interest in work, malignancy and keenness. For this reason most of all it is planted with wood workers. Besides Weimaraner use as a guard dog, mainly in the USA where it after the Second World War became very popular.

One of features of breed Weimaraner is age change colour puppies whom to two-month age grey-blue with sky-dark blue eyes, from third month their wool gets a grey-silvery shade, and eyes become jantarno-yellow. Definitive colour of eyes and a wool is stabilised at them not earlier, than at eight-monthly age.

There are three versions Weimaraner, different only on a wool. Until recently dogs of these versions were crossed among themselves, mainly because of a lack of breeding manufacturers long-wool and hard-wool versions. However, recently the aspiration to plant them in cleanliness is shown, without crossing among themselves, creating thus three independent breeds.
