Poodle — one of the most ancient breeds of dog. However the common opinion about its origin does not exist. Many experts consider as the ancestor of a poodle, occurring, in turn, from the dogs delivered to Europe from Africa by moors. Barbet crossed to the Portuguese and Spanish water dogs therefore there was a new breed with a curly wool which rather reminded a today's big poodle.
Originally it used for hunting for natatorial game. After at court Louis XVI it already used huge popularity and was considered as luxury goods. Historical changes of a fashion were reflected and in dogs. The freakish styles of hairstyles giving to a poodle a fantastic kind varied.
The hairstyle «under a lion» which ordered to shear a wool on a back part of a trunk up to now has remained, leaving a dense lion's mane and pompons on paws and a tail. This style has been legalised in 20-to years of our century, and on an exhibition in those days it was possible to result poodles only with such hairstyle. And by 1960 the modern style of a hairstyle — so-called "modernist style" which five years later has been confirmed by the International film logic federation as the official was definitively generated.
Before poodles were tall enough, but in the course of work with breed many cynologists tried to deduce small decorative dogs. It was now generated three types of poodles: big (growth from 45 to 58 sm), small (growth 35 — 45 sm} and dwarfish (growth 25 — 35 sm). And if dwarfish poodles — purely decorative dogs small and big it is quite possible to carry to sports-office.
Traditional colours a wool of poodles — black and white. However thanks to laborious work of cynologists last decades it was possible to receive poodles brown, silvery and even apricot colours.
