ORIGIN. This breed occurs from legendary Tibetan Mastiff which in europe were delivered by Phoenicians. These dogs were known in Europe and Asia for some millenia B.C. Them used for hunting for wild horses and lions. Delivered to England, they quickly became an English dog. From England these dogs have taken out to Rome where them used for fights on arenas, also them used for protection of dwellings.
The BREED DESCRIPTION. Mastiff - the massive, vigorous, well combined dog. The minimum height: 75 sm for dogs and 70 sm - for a bitch. Weight: 79 - 86 kg. At Mastiff a large, wide, rectangular head, with well developed muscles on in claims and cheeks, with developed, slightly loose-hanging lips. The breast should be wide and deep, falling considerably below level of elbows. The grasp of a breast behind forward feet on one third is more than height of a dog. A back and a waist wide with powerful muscules. Eyes: Small, darkly brown. A nose: big, black. Ears: are highly planted, roundish, trailing. A wool: short, hairs thick, adjoining, an underfur softer, dense. Colour: golden-yellow-brown, it is light yellow-brown and silvery. In the eighteenth century mastiff described following words: "As we carry a lion to cats so mastiff it is similar dog."
CHARACTER. Careful work with breed has allowed to clean natural ferocity of mastiff. Now this attentive, very betrayed by the at the owner of a dog which very much treat kindly children. At trainings at them unusual pugnacity and aggression develops.
USE. В the past, these dogs were constant participants of bloody dog fights on arenas of the Ancient world and the Middle Ages. In those days them used for protection only the isolated territories.
