ORIGIN. Since ancient times in Scotland there was a custom to establish on borders of possession or on tombs small pyramids from the stones, named cores. The small rodents causing the big loss to neighbouring farms often lodged in these pyramids. Therefore it has been decided to deduce the special medium-sized breed of dog, capable to get in pyramids and to exterminate wreckers. So there were a Cairn Terrier. These dogs are known since 1500, at an exhibition they for the first time have been presented in 1909 and have got popularity after 1930.

The BREED DESCRIPTION. Cairn Terrier superficially resembles a fox. At it strong, but not a heavy muzzle, a wide head. Eyes deeply planted, is dark-nut. Ears lifted and pointed. The tail is lifted. Feet short, but strong. Max the height - 30 sm. Ideal weight - 6.3 kg. A wool dense and strong with a dense soft underfur. Colour: red, sand, grey, pepper with salt, black.

CHARACTER. Cairn Terrier - the cheerful, devoted and loveful dog. It can be trained circus tricks.

USE. Centuries a Cairn Terrier used for hunting for foxes, badgers, rabbits and an otter. But in spite of the fact that its ancestors so much time lived in a countryside, he perfectly adapted for city conditions and became perfectly a dog-partner. Also it can work in a bow better than other terriers.
