ORIGIN. On one of Flemish gobelins of the seventeenth century it is possible to see the image of a dog, the appearance exclusively reminding the boxer. However then boxer did not exist yet and this drawing, most likely, - only a fruit of imagination of the artist. At least so historians of dog breeding confirm. The boxer has been deduced in 1850 in Munich by crossing mastiff with a bulldog. Mastiff then used for hunting for bears, and bulldogs - for fights with bulls more often. Thus, followed expect that new breed will inherit aggression of the ancestors. However, actually dog breeders pursued other aims, namely - to make appearance of dogs more attractive and, strangely enough, opposite to lower their aggression. That actually it also managed to achieve. Breed formation has definitively ended by 1896 when the first club on cultivation of boxers has been based.
The BREED DESCRIPTION. It is said that the boxer possesses "the most charming ugliness". The head of a dog is proportional to a trunk, smooth, without wrinkles. The bottom jaw acts forward a little and is slightly bent up. When the mouth at a dog is closed, neither a teeth nor language should not be visible. A nose large and black with strongly open nostrils. Ears are planted highly, usually they are stopped for the purpose of giving of the pointed form by it. Eyes dark. A neck strong, brawny, without folds of a skin (collar). The case square. A tail short, lifted upwards. Forward feet direct and parallel. On colour boxers are subdivided on two versions: the pale-yellow boxer and tigers the boxer. Height : dogs - 57-63 sm, bitch - 54-59 sm. Weight: dogs - 30-32 kg, bitch - 24-25 kg.
CHARACTER. The boxer - a true and pleasant dog in dialogue. It is not vindictive and very much loves children. Easily gives in to training.
USE. Representatives of this breed use for work in police, as bodyguards, sentry dogs and guides for the blind. However the greatest popularity boxers have deserved as dogs-partners. They like to play, however strangers treat with distrust. Also these dogs are very mobile also it frequent long walks are necessary for maintenance of the good physical form.
The NOTE. Unfortunately, boxers are not among long-livers. Often they do not live even to ten years' age. The rheumatism happens the reason for it quite often, therefore after walk in the rain the wool of this dog is necessary for drying up carefully. Also the dental health of your pupil requires the constant control.
